First “Master of Science Degree Program in Periodontology and Implantology
of the DTMD University in cooperation with the BDO and the DGOI
DTMD University for Digital Technologies in Medicine and Dentistry, based in Wiltz Castle in Luxembourg, will launch its first German-language “M.Sc. in Implantology and Periodontology” master’s course on October 16, 2021, in cooperation with the Professional Association of German Oral Surgeons (BDO) and the German Society for Oral Implantology (DGOI). The seminar events of the study course take place at the Lufthansa conference hotel, in Seeheim Jugenheim near Darmstadt.
The study program includes 14 modules on topics in oral implantology and periodontology. The advantage for the students of the master’s program is obvious: they benefit from the combined expert knowledge of the BDO, the DGOI and the DTMD University and can thus rely on an intensive transfer of knowledge. Dr. Dr. Wolfgang Jakobs and Prof. Dr. Daniel Grubeanu are the scientific directors of the course.
As with all continuing education programs at DTMD University, the focus of the “M.Sc. in Implantology and Periodontology” program is clearly on practical relevance and practicability and thus on the practical implementation and realization of innovative technologies and methods. Graduates of an implantology or periodontology curriculum of the two professional societies can apply for credit for their successfully completed curriculum and receive a price advantage. In addition, they will be credited with up to three basic modules, which guarantees them an additional time advantage.
For dentists specializing in oral surgery or those who have completed further training as specialists in the DGMKG, the further training acquired on the basis of ECTS credits can lead to a considerable shortening of the course of study. They receive 60 ECTS credits and must therefore complete 4 attendance and 3 e-learning modules.
Prof. Dr. Ralf Rößler, Dean of the DTMD University: “I am pleased that we, as a certified and accredited private university for continuing education, have the option of recognizing high-value continuing education courses such as the specialist dentist for oral surgery and maxillofacial surgery in our degree programs. Up to half of the total 120 ECTS earned with the DTMD University Master’s program can be credited. The students thus have a price and time advantage: they do not have to pay twice and, in addition, their study time is shortened.”
