The academic teaching practices and teaching institutes provide DTMD University students with high-quality exposure to the diverse and challenging medical tasks they will encounter in practice through clinical clerkships, (block) internships, and supervision. In this context, academic teaching physicians assume clearly defined tasks in continuing education and training in accordance with the respective module specifications on their own responsibility in coordination with the Dean of the DTMD.

The affiliated institutes at DTMD University are legally, financially and organizationally independent units with their own areas of expertise in teaching and research. A cooperation agreement between the affiliated institute and the DTMD University regulates the content-related, organizational and, under certain circumstances, also financial cooperation as well as the transfer of information, technologies and knowledge between theory and practice.
Already active in the market are the Institutes of Internal Medicine and Laboratory Medicine, Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, Manual Medicine, Oral Health, Holistic Health Management and Nursing, and the Haranni Institute for Teaching and Research for Health Professions. The institutes for sports medicine, digital dental technology and hygiene are currently being established. They are all based in Luxembourg, maintain research as well as education and training centers in Germany and Austria, and are assigned to Prof. Rössler's teaching and research division.
