Course content

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Orthodontics at DTMD University combines comprehensive academic training and clinical practice in orthodontics with patient care experience in both clinical and non-clinical contexts in a two-year part-time postgraduate program. In short, it provides an evidence-based theoretical foundation and clinically relevant university-level practice for ambitious practitioners.

Our students receive a sound education and a wide range of opportunities for personal development that are fully in line with current international standards. Continuing education is a special concern of DTMD University. Our degree programs are offered at various international locations both as face-to-face and online courses. Modern didactics are just as much a matter of course as up-to-date specialist knowledge. At the end of your studies, you will have the knowledge, skills and experience to successfully treat even complex orthodontic cases. Our dynamic and committed team of lecturers consists exclusively of recognized specialists in orthodontics who have extensive practical experience and many years of teaching experience.

In addition to the orthodontic treatment of children and adolescents, which has been the main focus up to now, our curriculum also includes the treatment of adults. We teach and train modern treatment techniques and methods in detail, from aligners to TADs, from straighwire techniques and biomechanics to the design of digital appliances, from CMD to orthognathic surgery. This effectively and significantly broadens the scope of orthodontics so that it can be further developed as a treatment option for patients of all ages in general and specialized practices. Digitalization is not a vision of the future for DTMD University, but already a reality.

During their studies, students write a Master's thesis. After successfully defending the thesis and passing the final examination, graduates are awarded the internationally recognized academic degree "Master of Science Orthodontics". The full title is: "Postgraduate Master of Science" (M.Sc.) in "Orthodontics", as defined in the AHPGS Freiburg i. Br. certificate dated December 10, 2020.

The internationally recognized Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Orthodontics enables and qualifies dentists of all specialties to establish themselves as experts in this field. However, it does not entitle the holder to use the title "Specialist Dentist in Orthodontics". Of course, the course is also open to specialists who wish to deepen their specialist knowledge and gain an academic foundation.
